About Us

Just as there is not a single cause for the obesity epidemic in America, there is not one simple solution. Solving this crisis will take commitment, expertise and ideas from all sectors of society, which means that one group cannot work alone and hope to make an impact. We must all work in collaboration with one another, draw from our diverse experiences, and have a plan. This is the American Council for Fitness and Nutrition’s (ACFN) guiding principle and a big part of who we are.
ACFN is a non-profit organization working to address the nation’s obesity epidemic with practical long-term solutions. ACFN, and the ACFN Foundation, is led by Susan Finn and Alison Kretser, two of America’s foremost nutrition and policy experts, a well-recognized group of funders, and is guided by an Advisory Board of experts in the fields of medicine, nutrition, physical activity and behavior change.
To get us closer to a healthier America, ACFN collaborates withour partner organizations, American Dietetic Association Foundation and PE4life, health professionals, educators, policy makers and others on comprehensive and sustainable approaches to reducing and preventing obesity.
