The Partners


The Healthy Schools Partnership is a coalition of the American Council for Fitness and Nutrition Foundation (ACFN Foundation), PE4life and the American Dietetic Association Foundation (ADAF). Each organization recognizes the importance of solving the obesity problem and fully commits itself to putting staff and resources against a common enemy.

ACFN Foundation

The American Council for Fitness & Nutrition Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and implementation of innovative and sustainable programs that teach children and their families the concept of energy balance. ACFN Foundation builds alliances with professional societies, academic researchers and industry to combat this crisis. The Healthy Schools Partnership was created by the ACFN Foundation and works to assure that resources and educational programs are available for the continuation of the HSP program and the expansion of its programs nationwide.

 

PE4life

The HSP program’s innovative approach to addressing the childhood obesity epidemic is based on the existing success of PE4life’s model of getting children active and instilling a lifetime of health and wellness. Launched in 2000, PE4life impacts 2 million children annually throughout the United States and across the world., PE4life is an evidence-based approach to promoting physical activity habits and behaviors that will last a lifetime. PE4life programs embrace technology with the use of interactive gaming, heart rate monitors and assessment tools. PE4life programs have shown compelling improvements in math and reading scores when increasing fitness levels, while also decreasing discipline incidents. American Dietetic Association Foundation

The American Dietetic Association Foundation (ADAF) is the philanthropic arm of the largest organization of food and nutrition professionals, the 70,000 plus members of the American Dietetic Association. ADAF provides scholarships and research grants to support and advance the profession of dietetics and the science of food and nutrition. ADAF is committed to promoting healthy weight for kids and works with the Registered Dietitian to help kids and their families eat right!
