Programs and Research

ACFN’s innovative programs are designed to promote healthier living through energy balance. Put simply, energy balance is the concept of "calories in…calories out" and can best be achieved though healthy eating and physical activity.

Since 2004, ACFN along with the work of the ACFN Foundation have conducted groundbreaking research and developed programs and products focused on energy balance and wellness in communities across the country. With each program, ACFN also works to lead in the field in outcomes measurement, to quantify progress and determine what impact a program has had on a population. Programs and products include:

  • The TRIUMPH series, a tour of events in seven cities around the U.S., highlighted successful health and wellness programs already at work. The events also convened civic leaders and public health professionals to identify key characteristics and best practices to expand these programs within their communities. Learn More »

Key findings in the TRIUMPH series led to other programs for ACFN. Cultural relevance, a main component in a successful wellness program, became the cornerstone of the Community Connect Blueprints.
