The American College of Functional Neurology® (“ACFN”) is a non-profit certification organization dedicated to serving and protecting its stakeholders, which consist of the public and its health care members, by certifying excellence in practice. The ACFN administers certification examinations, maintains certification renewal processes, and issues a Certificate of Qualification and a Fellowship statuses.
All ACFN agencies and sub-agencies are consistent with The Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing (AERA, APA, & NCME, 1999). It accepts applications from health care professionals that have completed education from an agency recognized training and/or residency program. The content validity of its certification examinations is demonstrated by a comprehensive job analysis conducted and analyzed by experts, with data gathered from its stakeholders in neurological specialties and subspecialties.
The certification program of the ACFN provides impartial, third-party validation that the has met recognized national and international credentialing industry standards for development, implementation, and maintenance of certification programs.

- Maintain standards for competent practice in the health care specialty of Functional Neurology.
- Certify qualified applicants from a variety of neurological specialties.
- Conduct recertification processes designed to enhance the continued competence of its registry.
