The purpose of the certification program of the American College of Functional Neurology is to conduct certification activities in a manner that upholds standards for competent practice in the health care specialty of Functional Neurology. The College also conducts recertification designed to enhance the continued competence of the Functional Neurologist. The American College of Functional Neurology (ACFN) certifies qualified physicians at the Fellowship Level in a variety of neurological specialties. The ACFN maintains standards for competent practice in the health care specialty of Functional Neurology. The College also conducts recertification designed to enhance the continued competence of the Functional Neurologist.

Primary care physicians and clinicians that have completed specialist level training (Fellowship) in neurology from an accredited institutional program may be admitted as a Fellow of the American College of Functional Neurology after passing the necessary clinical examinations of the College.
The College, in collaboration with Subspecialty Colleges, conducts certification examinations in Functional Neurology, Brain Injury & Rehabilitation, Electrodiagnosis, Vestibular Rehabilitation and Childhood Developmental Disorders.
